Romans 12:2 (KJV)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Regardless of the person you are today, you can change! You can be the man or woman of God that he’s called you to be! You do not have to stay the same. You do not have to accept things the way they currently are in your life.
Very often you will hear people say, “Well, this is the way it’s always been.” They’ll say, “I was born this way and I’ll die this way.” Many, while accepting sin and failure, will say, “This just runs through my family.” You have a new family and a new bloodline if you are a Christian (2 Cor 5:17)! God is now your Father and you now possess his nature, but it is up to you whether you become who he’s called you to be or not!
Our text scripture above tells us we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The word “transformed” means “to change, to undergo a spiritual transformation.” God not only expects you to always be changing and growing, but also tells us just how to do that. We must renew our mind with God’s word! You do what you do today because you think it’s right. If what you do contradicts the word of God, it is not right. In order to change that, you must change your thinking. You must renew your mind. “Renew” means “to renovate or make new.”
Determine today to not just accept things the way they are. Determine today to put on the mind of Christ by renewing your mind with his word. Then, as you step out and make decisions in your life with your new way of thinking (God’s way), you will begin to get results like never before!
