You Are Never Alone!

I Kings 19:10 KJV

And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; AND I, EVEN I ONLY, AM LEFT; and they seek my life, to take it away.

The Bible plainly tells us we are not to be ignorant of the devil’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11). Satan’s plans, schemes, and traps are no different than they were from the beginning. If we would only look to God’s word, we would plainly see how he operates and would be able to overcome any and every obstacle that comes our way.

One of the greatest tools he uses is to get you convinced that you are all alone. Your heart may be right, you may be fighting the good fight, but you are the only one doing so. It’s just you versus the work of the devil and the odds are stacked against you. Why would you even try to move forward? Little old you could never overcome all that is against you.

That’s what we see with Elijah in our passage above. He has obeyed God and confronted the king over his forsaking of God and his worshipping of idols. He has challenged the prophets of Baal and saw the fire come down from heaven. Then, Jezebel was outraged and she set out to kill him. In 1 Kings 19:10 Elijah informs God, “… I, even I, am the only one left.” In v. 18 the Lord informs Elijah, “… I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.” Elijah was not lying when he said he was the only one left. He really believed this was true! In reality, there were seven thousand others who were also loyal to their God!

Never allow the devil to convince you that you are all alone and there is no purpose in trying to move forward. This is always a lie! In reality, the New Testament believer is never alone because he has the greater one, the Holy Spirit, living inside of him (John 14:16, 17).

You are never alone!
