Who are your People?

Acts 4:23 KJV

And being let go, THEY WENT TO THEIR OWN COMPANY, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

If you are going to accomplish the plan of God for your life, you must be in the right place with the right people! While your success or failure in this life definitely starts with you, it’s also extremely important who you walk with. Proverbs 13:20 says, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” This scripture is self-explanatory!

I have learned this lesson from God’s word, by His spirit, and by experience in my life. When you truly get serious with God, this will be one area he will address in your life. There are specific places and specific people that God has called you to and others that he will call you out of. One of the biggest reasons many cannot move on with God is that they refuse to change in this area.

I’ve ministered to many people that have been hurt by others or by the church. I don’t always take things at face value, but I pray and ask God for help when helping others. I know often times what is shared with me is actually just the symptom of the problem, and not the root of the problem. The Lord said to me one day, “Many have felt rejected and hurt by people in certain places, not because the people were evil, but because they chose to stay in places with people that I never placed them in to begin with.” Could you possibly feel out of place because you are out of place?

We are moving into a new year and it’s a good time to make the changes the Lord is leading you to make. Why are you doing what you are doing? Why are you in the place you are in? Why are you with the company that you are with? If you are there because God placed you there, then stay. If not, you need to seek the Lord as to where you need to be and who you need to be with. My dad used to say, “Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.” I have seen this play out over and over again. Your environment will affect you!

Make sure that you are with your God ordained people in your God ordained place! The people God places you with will add to you and you will add to them. This is how we grow in God together! Know your company!
