When all Hope is Gone

Acts 27:20 KJV

And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

Have you ever been in a situation that seemed hopeless? You knew what God had promised you, you stepped out in faith, only for it to seem like there was no way things would work out. You may have even been tempted to just give up. I have been there many times, and I have good news for you today!

With God there is always a way! In our text scripture today, we are looking at a situation the Apostle Paul was in. He was imprisoned, but had appealed to go to Rome to appear before Caesar. They were headed to Rome by ship. He had warned the master and owner of the ship of impending doom if they kept going. They didn’t listen to him and continued to proceed. As they proceeded it only got worse. A monstrous storm arose and put them in great danger. They began to take action to save themselves. They tried to strengthen the ship and even threw their furniture and equipment overboard to lighten the load. Nothing they did helped in the least!

Acts 27:20 says, “… all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.” They were hopeless! Barring a miracle, they were going to drown and never see their families again.

Thank God there was a man of God on this ship! Thank God there was a man who knew that nothing was impossible with God! Paul had been with God and had something to say. Acts 27:25 says, “Wherefore sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.” God had sent an angel to tell Paul that no man’s life would be lost if they would listen to him.

Are you facing a hopeless situation today? Does it look like it’s all over? I’m here to tell you that there is no such thing as a hopeless situation with God! Paul received the word, he believed the word, and it turned out just as God promised! Hold fast to what God has promised you today and it will be just as he’s told you!

God said it. I believe it. That settles it!
