What Are You Thinking?

Romans 12:2 KJV

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Many Christians believe that when they get saved there is nothing else that needs to be done. They are now a part of God’s family and whatever he wants to happen in their lives will automatically happen. Whatever doesn’t happen must not have been God’s will to begin with. This will lead you into a life of misery and failure. Why? Because it is not how you accomplish God’s plan for your life!

Another horrendous thought pattern in the church today is “God loves me just the way I am.” Now, before anyone gets bent out of shape, I want to ask a question. Many who think this way will say, “God’s love is all that I need.” I would now ask my question, “Doesn’t God love every sinner that dies and goes to hell?” Of course he does! The problem with the “God loves me just the way I am” thought process is that it is unbiblical. It is only a half truth. God is a loving Heavenly Father that loves each of us unconditionally, that is true. But, he did not send Jesus, out of his love, to leave you as you were! God sent Jesus to radically change your life forever!

You can only accomplish God’s purpose on purpose! It will not just happen if you hang on long enough. Our passage above tells us that we are to be transformed (changed, undergo a spiritual transformation) as we renew (make new) our minds with God’s word. This is written to Christians that are already saved and loved by God! They are already in his family, but contrary to popular opinion, they have work to do!

It is a simple biblical truth that every single Christian is to be becoming more like Jesus every day as they renew their minds with the word of God!
