Victory in Jesus

Colossians 1:13 KJV

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

From my childhood, I remember hearing the lines from a song which said, “Victory in Jesus, my Savior forever.” While these are very powerful and true words, victory is not something that you see very often among Christians. It seems that the struggles in life are magnified above all else. You hear, “You don’t know what’s been done to me” or “ you don’t know what I’ve been through.” While I’m aware it’s not intentional, even in a testimony service the devil seems to get more credit than God. Maybe the old time saints had a better focus than many do today.

Colossians 1:13 tells me 2 things that I absolutely must know; 1) I have been delivered from the power of darkness, and 2) I have been translated into the kingdom of God. I cannot overestimate the importance of knowing this truth!

I have been delivered from the power of darkness and satan! I am not going to be, in Christ Jesus, I already have been! When Adam sinned all of mankind was separated from God and came under the power and oppression of the devil. This is true. It is also true that Jesus Christ came to deliver me from the devils power and destroy his works (1 John 3:8). Today, you and I are not under the power of the devil! Do not confess what the devil is doing in your life, but confess that Jesus has set you free!

I have been translated into the kingdom of God by Jesus Christ himself! I’m not only no longer under the devils power, but I am now in God’s kingdom, in his family, as his very own child! The kingdom is the place where I have a right to rule and reign! What do I rule and reign over? I rule and reign over every single work of the devil in Jesus’ Name!

So, stop talking about all the devil is doing in your life, take your place in the kingdom in Christ Jesus, and put the devil in his place! You have victory in Jesus!

I love this! I certainly do not give the devil any kind of glory by saying he is doing this and that. I praise God in every situation all day long! Praise God!
