Hebrews 4:12 KJV
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
One of the most popular phrases that you hear today is “don’t judge me.” This statement alarms me every time that I hear it. This is usually the statement of a person who does not understand God’s word and whose life is in shambles. They accept everything in their life and support others regardless of the decisions they make.
Now, before you get upset with me, I am talking about what you receive and reject in your life. I am talking about what is right and what is wrong. I am not talking about God’s love for you or your love for others. It’s true that God loves us unconditionally, and it’s true that you are to love others the same. It’s also true that to walk in the love of God you must obey the word of God (John 14:21).
Your life will only be blessed and produce the fruit of the Spirit to the degree that you walk in line with the word of God! You may ask, “What in the world does that have to do with judging?” Hebrews 4:12 says, “… For the word of God is …. a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” The word discerner means “a judge or decider.” You are to judge everything, and I mean everything, by the word of God! What is right is what is in line with God’s word. What is wrong is what is not in line with God’s word. You are right when you make decisions in line with the word. You are wrong when you make decisions that contradict the word. You should only receive into your life those things that are in line with the word of God!
As you move into this new year, why not start living by the word? While you are not the judge, and neither am I, God’s word is the judge. If you will begin to allow the word of God to determine right and wrong in your life, instead of others and/or your feelings, you will see that you will move into God’s best and even avoid unnecessary problems in your life!
God is the judge of all things and he’s given us his word so that we can plainly see right from wrong. Begin today to live by the word and you will see that your best days are yet ahead of you!
