Galatians 5:13 KJV
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Every person that I know has a desire to impact the lives of others. If they are successful in any area of life, they will naturally want to pass it on, especially to those they love. If your life has been radically changed by the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, you naturally want to share it. Every Christian should want to add to the lives of others.
Too often the desire to help others is there, but the approach is entirely wrong. When this happens, you may have a life changing message, but it will produce no results if not received. Why would anyone not receive a life changing message?
Simply put, the delivery of any truth must be packaged in love!
Your impact will be minimal to none if you speak the truth without love. Every person that has had a major impact on my life and imparted life changing truths to me, first loved me. They did not show up to tell me how ignorant I was and how foolish I was if I didn’t do as they told me. No, they came with the intention of adding to my life. Galatians 5:13 above says, “… by love serve one another.” It is the love of God demonstrated to others that opens the hearts of others! How did your salvation start? You heard a message that told you that God loved you so much THAT HE GAVE his only son to die so that you could live! God changed uncountable multitudes of people through one great act of love!
God has never changed! Maybe today you are frustrated because you know you possess a truth that will help others, but seemingly no one listens. Maybe you have family that you have been continually working on, but they seem to be further away than ever before. Maybe you should back off a little and love them. Maybe in your effort to help those you love, you forgot what it was that opened the door to your heart to receive the truth that set you free.
I am not telling you to give up on your loved one’s or anyone’s salvation. I am telling you to remember that it is the love of God demonstrated to others that opens their hearts to the life changing truth of God’s word. Balance your approach with love and truth and you will see God move like never before!
