Luke 2:11 KJV
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year! There are not many things that I don’t like about Christmas. I look forward to the Christmas season every year. This year is no different. Laura Leigh and I love to decorate for Christmas, spend time with our family and friends, and be a blessing to others.
In saying that, there are times that I am grieved in my spirit during the Christmas season. If we are not careful, we can allow Christmas to become about everything that it’s not. Family, friends, and celebrations are all right in their place, but when they take precedence, they become a stumbling block. Christmas is not about people, gifts, or things. Christmas is about Jesus!
Christmas is about the greatest gift that’s ever been given! When God’s man Adam sinned in the garden, we were all separated from the Father (Romans 5:12). Mankind was lost and in need of a savior. The issue was that all men were born of sin and no one qualified to save us. Thank God for his immeasurable love! God gave His only son to be born of a virgin, live on this earth, and then die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins! Luke 2:11 says, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”
Christmas is the celebration of the birth of our Savior! When the birth of Jesus was announced, the way back to God’s family for you and I was announced! Jesus was and is the way to the Father!
I encourage you to enjoy your families and time off this Christmas. Above all, I encourage you to not let anything cause you to forget just who Christmas is all about!
If you are a parent, I encourage you to take the time and share the Christmas story with your children this Christmas. It can be found in Luke chapter 2. This will not only make sure that your children will keep Christ first this Christmas but set a pattern for them to do the same when they have children.
Merry Christmas to you all and I pray that you never forget the reason for the season! Jesus is the greatest gift of all!
