1 John 4:9 KJV
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
God is love. Love is not just what God has, but it is who he is (1 John 4:8). The nature of God is love. If you are a Christian, your nature is love. While you may choose not to walk in love, this love does reside in your heart (Romans 5:5). You will never be fulfilled and come into complete security in your life until you learn to receive of God’s love and walk in God’s love. There can be no healthy relationship without love as the foundation.
Many today try and twist people’s arms and coerce them through fear to love and obey God. If they would only come to know the Father’s Love, no coercion would be necessary. We obey God because we love God (John 14:21). The proof of love is always found in obedience.
The religious church does not understand this. They cannot understand why so many are fleeing the church. They are right in many things they say are right and wrong, but do not teach relationship with the Father and the love of the Father.
Did you know that Father God is always for you? Did you know that he always wants what is best for you? Many fear God’s correction. His correction is only for the purpose of bringing you back into his perfect will for your life. The motive behind his correction is always his love for you (Proverbs 3:12).
Our text today tells us that God has manifested or shown his love for us by sending Jesus to die for us. Jesus is the picture of the Father’s love. You cannot look at Jesus without seeing God’s love for you.
I encourage you today to stop taking other people’s words, even Christians, about who God is. Get in the Bible. Spend some time in prayer. Get to know God for yourself. You will learn quickly there is no one like him. You will finally learn what it means to be loved! God loves you!
