The Cure for Worry!

Philippians 4:6 KJV

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

One of the most effective tools that the enemy uses to rob the Christian of peace is worry! It seems as if there is always something to worry about. It is the dread and fear of just what could go wrong. You have prayed and given it to God, but it is still weighing on your mind. While you may completely relate to everything I just said, in reality, worry is sin. It will rob you of your peace and the abundant life that God has given you through Jesus Christ.

Worry is simply misplaced trust. While it can be taught much deeper than this, the cure for worry is faith in God. After all, what do we worry about? We worry about all that could go wrong and all that has gone wrong. If we place our cares in God’s care, they will no longer weigh us down.

Don’t worry! The command is simple, but it will take you renewing your mind with God’s word and choosing not to worry that will bring the result of peace. Philippians 4:6 says, “Be careful for nothing…” The word careful here means “to be anxious, troubled, or worried.” The word of God plainly tells us to not worry. Right after the command to not worry, he gives us further instruction. We are to pray! It has been said that whatever you are worrying about you have not prayed about. Now I realize you can give things to God and then take them back. I have done this myself. True peace results in us taking every single worry or concern to God, trusting him to do for us what we could never do for ourselves, and then enjoying his peace, knowing our cares are in his care.

I can assure you that you will always be tempted to worry, but the choice is yours. Whatever has been weighing on you needs to be placed in God’s care. He has not equipped you to carry the load he’s instructed you to place on him. This is what leads to so many mental and physical breakdowns. Take your cares, worries, and concerns to God today! Cast them on him, watch him take care of you as promised, and enjoy the peace of God daily!
