Colossians 2:6-7 KJV
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving, for the Christian, is not simply a day that is set aside once a year to give thanks for all they have. It is not a day that is set aside to take off from work, get together with your family, and enjoy a good meal. Thanksgiving, at least for the Christian, is an attitude and a lifestyle! Thanksgiving should be the continual state of your heart and continual expression of your words.
While there are many, many scriptures along these lines, I have specifically chosen the ones above. Those who have placed their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ should live a life that abounds with thanksgiving! I simply do not understand Christian’s who are always complaining and griping! You cannot truly realize what God has done for you in Christ Jesus and be a complainer. We have so much to be thankful for!
If you are a Christian, how bad can things truly be? Under your greatest attack, while facing your greatest opposition, with the enemy bearing down on you on seemingly every front, you are still a child of God! I say very often while preaching, “The very worst case scenario for a Christian is that they will die and immediately be in the presence of God to spend eternity with him!” The best case is to simply trust your loving Heavenly Father today regardless of what you are facing and he will see you through!
Psalms 69:20 says, “… I will magnify him with thanksgiving.” I want you to know today that God is greater than whatever it is you are facing. God is greater than anything the devil is doing. It’s time to stop magnifying the devil and his works and start magnifying God and his goodness! We magnify him with thanksgiving! Start today!
