Act 16:25 KJV
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
You can praise your way to victory! You can change your atmosphere, situations, and circumstances by changing your language to praise. Psalms 22:3 says, “…thou inhabitest the praises of Israel.” God lives where he is praised! Psalms 16:11 says, “…in thy presence is fulness of joy.” When you choose to walk by faith and praise God in the storm, victory is imminent!
Most Christians today do not have the language of praise. All they talk about is how bad everything is and how much worse it’s going to get. They will actually even get upset with you when you don’t get down in the dumps with them. Don’t forget that God lists murmuring (grumbling, complaining) as one of the reasons that the children of Israel were overthrown in the wilderness (1 Corinthians 10:10).
In our text scripture above Paul and Silas have encountered a woman with a demon spirit. Paul cast this demon spirit out in the name of Jesus. This spirit was a soothsaying spirit and allowed this woman to read minds. Her masters were making money off of this demon she possessed. They were not happy when she was set free! They proceeded to get Paul and Silas thrown into jail!
Now, they may have been tempted to grumble, gripe, and complain, but that is not what they did! They held fast to their faith in God, regardless of the circumstances! In jail, they kept the faith.
What was the result of them praying and singing praises to God? Not only were they set free, but so were all the other prisoners. The guard and his entire family were also saved. Lives were changed because Paul and Silas praised God in the storm!
Praise God today, regardless of what it looks like, because you know that victory is yours as you keep your faith in God!
