John 15:13 KJV
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
I have heard for years now that all the world needs is love. In part, I agree with that. Love is not a thing or even just an action. Love is a person. Love is God and God is love (1 John 4:8). God’s love can be seen in His Son, Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Easter is a celebration of God’s love towards mankind. The first man Adam, had sinned, and all mankind became separated from God by him (Romans 5:12). There was no way back to the Father because sin had passed upon all mankind. We were in need of a savior, but no one qualified. Thank God that he always makes a way where there seems to be no way! God sent a sinless sacrifice in the form of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was delivered for our offenses, that he might be raised for our justification (Romans 4:25).
As we celebrate Easter this year, don’t forget what it’s all about! Jesus Christ shed his innocent blood to pay the price to redeem us from our sins. He presented his blood to God as the payment for our sins. Today, in Christ Jesus we stand justified (guiltless, approved, accepted) by God.
It has been said that you can measure the value of something by what you are willing to give up for it. What does that say about God’s love for you? Celebrate God’s love this Easter by giving thanks continually for what he did in Christ Jesus for you!
