Romans 8:17 KJV
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
The Holy Spirit spoke to me several years ago and said, “My children are struggling unnecessarily because they are living below their rights and privileges as children of God.” Are you aware, that as a Christian, you are one of God’s very own children? The God that has immeasurable love and resources is our very own father! What do you truly have to worry about when your Father is God? I think we reveal just how little we understand this topic when we spend our lives worrying. I’m not condemning anyone, because I’ve been there myself!
Romans 8:15 says, “… ye have received the spirit of adoption.” Mounce Dictionary says that “adoption” means “a placing in the condition as a son.” The word adoption literally means “son placing.” In and through Christ Jesus you and I were placed in the family of God as God’s very own children! When this took place we gained access to all that God has and all that God is. We have all the rights, authorities, and privileges that Jesus has with the Father! Many find that statement hard to believe, but it’s true nonetheless! Not only am I an heir of God, but I’m a joint-heir with Jesus Himself (Romans 8:17)! The reality is that God is my Father, and Jesus is my brother!
Now, maybe you’ve been complaining about your family and why you can’t make it. Do you see how foolish that is if you are a Christian? You cannot succeed because you have not yet realized your support system nor the rights, authorities, and privileges you have in Christ Jesus! You need to change your identity! Get in the word of God and find out who you are in Christ, what you have in Christ, and what you can do through Christ. Begin to speak these things by faith and watch your life completely change!
Your Bible, especially the New Testament, is the last will and testament of the Lord Jesus Christ. He has died and rose again. What is available to you is available to you right now in and through Christ Jesus! Get in the word and begin to take your rightful place as one of God’s very own children!
