Faith Friends

Mark 2:3 KJV

And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

My dad used to say, “Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.” The people you choose to associate with will have much to do with your future! 1 Corinthians 15:33 says, “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” God’s Word translation of this verse says, “Don’t let anyone deceive you. Associating with bad people will ruin decent people.” Your friends will bring you up or down.

More importantly, Godly friends will lead you to Jesus! You need faith friends! In our text above, this man is sick of the palsy. He was what we would call disabled. Jesus was going about healing those just like him, but he had no way to get to Jesus. Thank God this man was not alone! He had the right friends. His four friends came, picked him up, and carried him to Jesus. This resulted in his supernatural healing! What if he’d had the wrong friends?

As I write this, we are at youth camp with our youth. I was told this morning of an experience they had with the Lord. While some were dealing with great opposition, the others showed up on the scene. The ones that showed up didn’t bring discouragement or more frustration, they brought the word of God by the Spirit of God! When they did this, the entire atmosphere changed! As their Pastor, I was beyond proud. I had no involvement in this. They worked the word for themselves and they got God results! The word will work the same for you!

Who’s in your company today? Are they sitting around talking about and criticizing others, or are they encouraging you in the faith and leading you to Jesus? Make sure your friends are faith friends!
