Don’t Limit God!

Psalms 78:41 KJV

Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

While there are many different views on this topic, we will look to God’s very own Word for the answers. Many believe that it is impossible to limit God. They believe that God is sovereign, which He is, and that whatever His will is in their life will automatically come to pass. This is not scriptural and this wrong belief hurts many people. After all, it is very hard to explain why God, who is a God of life and love, is killing His very own people. You may ask, “What in the world are you talking about?” I cannot count the times that something bad or terrible happens to one of God’s very own children and then almost every Christian you know will say, “Well, I don’t know what it is, but God had a purpose in it.” Jesus came to give us life and life abundantly (John 10:10), and the only gifts that God has to give us are good gifts (James 1:17).

Something that many do not realize is that the devil is real and desires to destroy you (John 10:10), and you have a part to play in the direction and outcome of your life (Deuteronomy 30:19).

We must understand that the Christian will not fulfill God’s perfect will for their lives if they do not take authority over the devil (James 4:7), be obedient to God’s Word (Isaiah 1:19), and walk by faith daily (Hebrews 11:6).

We know that Jesus had the Spirit of God without measure, yet the unbelief of His very own people limited Him from doing many mighty works among them (Mark 6:1-6). They missed out on God’s best because they would not fully receive Him or His words.

What has God promised you today? What direction has He given you? Now, instead of making excuses as to why it hasn’t happened or blaming others, place your faith solely back in God’s promise. Take authority over the enemy and send him packing! When we obey God’s Word, we are assured victory (1 Corinthians 15:57)!
