Christians Don’t Fight

2 Timothy 2:24 KJV

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

The only fight that Christian’s are called to fight is the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12). We are called ambassadors, or representatives of the Lord Jesus Christ himself here in the earth (2 Corinthians 5:20). Jesus came to seek and save those who were lost (Luke 19:10). Jesus came to preach the gospel, heal the broken-hearted, and set people free from satan’s bondage (Luke 4:18). We are to be doing the works of Jesus in the earth today (John 14:12)!

This is very often not what I see among Christians today! The Lord impressed this upon my spirit many days ago now. He told me one morning, “Christians don’t fight.” The only way you can fight with people, Christian or not, is to yield to the flesh and the devil. You have no responsibility to make every wrong right in your life! At some point in time, all of us have been done wrong. You are to love God, love others, and let God make the wrongs right in your life!

There are some reading this today that are continually fighting to get things straightened out in your life. You are only making a bigger mess. Trust me, I learned this the hard way. Years ago, someone had done me wrong. I was very angry. On the ride home I told Laura Leigh exactly what they did and how I was going to straighten it out. I thought about it all night. I got in my truck the next morning and the Lord spoke to my heart. Now, the Lord loves us and is for us, but sometimes he has to get our attention. I heard on the inside of me that morning, “Back up, shut up, and pray.” This got my attention. The Lord was telling me I was about to make a mess. What was I going to do? I was ready to fight. Fighting never fixes anything, and on top of that, it is very poor representation of our Father God to others.

2 Timothy 2:24 says, “And the servant of the Lord must not strive, but be gentle.” The word strive in the Strongs Dictionary means “to quarrel, fight, or strive.”

If this is for you today you need to stop what you are doing. Get alone with God and turn your problems over to him. If you will ask him for help, he will help you. God is the only one capable of making the wrongs right in your life! Don’t go at it alone, God is with you (Psalms 46:7).
