Celebrate Jesus!

Matthew 1:21 KJV

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Christmas is finally here! I believe this is the greatest time of the year, especially for Christians! It is very important that we do not forget what Christmas is all about! There are seemingly so many obligations that it is easy for our priorities to get out of order. There are gifts to purchase, family to visit, and much more, but this is not what Christmas is all about. Don’t get me wrong, those things are important, but they are not most important.

What is Christmas all about? Christmas is about Jesus! Jesus is why we celebrate! Matthew 1:21 tells us, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.” The name “Jesus” in both the Greek and Hebrew mean “the Lord shall save.” Oh, thank God for baby Jesus this Christmas, but don’t forget why he was born of a virgin that Christmas morning! Jesus is our Savior!

When God’s man Adam sinned, sin and death passed upon us all. We were all separated from God with no way back to him (Romans 5:12). Since all men were separated from God, no man qualified to save us. Thank God he always has a way! God, out of his love, gave us the greatest gift ever given, Jesus! This innocent baby, born of a virgin that Christmas morning, came for a purpose. Everything that God did in and through Jesus he did for you and me! Jesus’ birth, life, death on the cross, burial, and resurrection was for the sole purpose to save us from our sins and reunite us with our Father God! I do not understand how a Christian can know this love of the Father and be down and out! Jesus is the love of the Father revealed for you and me!

Enjoy your family and friends, give and receive gifts, spend time enjoying the season, but do not forget the very reason for the season! Celebrate Jesus! God loves you and Jesus is all the proof you need! Merry Christmas!
