1 Peter 5:7 KJV
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
While everyone will be tempted to worry, I come from a family of professional worriers. We have a tendency to get worked up when things don’t go like they should. I say we, because this is not just something others in my family have dealt with, but I’ve had to overcome myself.
The Lord said to me recently, “Your level of care (worry, concern) reveals just how much you’ve entrusted to my care.” In other words, what you are worried about right now, you have not entrusted to God. If you had truly committed it to his care, you would not be worried. If you are not careful, this worry will allow a spirit of fear to come upon you, which is very paralyzing and not of God (2 Timothy 1:7).
Another scripture that has helped me is found in Jesus’ teachings on provision. Matthew 6:27 says, “ Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” In other words, there is absolutely no benefit to worry. It only serves the enemies purpose of bringing you down.
What should I do? 1 Peter 5:7 in the Amplified Bible says, “Casting all your cares (all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your cares, once and for all) on Him, for He cares for you.” Instead of worrying about a potential diagnosis, I will trust God as my healer (Exodus 15:26). Instead of worrying about potential lack, I will trust God as my supply (Philippians 4:19). The list goes on and on! I can worry about it and be brought down, or I can cast my cares upon God, trust him, and I will move forward and gain new ground!
God truly loves and cares for you and has made provision for everything you need to succeed in this life in and through Christ Jesus (2 Peter 1:3-4)! Psalms 37:5 says, “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and HE SHALL BRING IT TO PASS.” God always honors His word and He will do just as He’s promised (Jeremiah 1:12)!
