John 2:5 KJV
His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
Activity is not necessarily productivity! We live in a society that seems to tie how busy you are with your success. Everyone is going somewhere and doing something. We have to be busy! We must keep moving! Now, as I make those statements, many people will agree with them. Is this right thinking? Is this God’s way?
I have also observed another trend that is disturbing. Statistics show that depression, anxiety, fear of the future, and mental and physical breakdowns are at an all time high. Could these two issues go together? Could many be suffering with these ailments because they have bought the lie that if your entire life is not consumed with activity you are a failure? That is exactly what has happened!
Now, some will ask, “Do you believe that we don’t have to do anything?” This is not an encouragement of laziness, but an encouragement to walk free of the expectations of this world and others and fulfill God’s plan for your life. It took me years to receive this simple revelation. I was always being told, “You have to do this, and you have to do that.” I finally realized that I did not have to do what everyone expected me to do and that trying to please others only brings misery into your life.
What do we have to do? In John 2 we see the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine. John 2:5 says, “His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” This miracle came about as they simply did what Jesus told them to do. This works the same way in your life. There is no cookie cutter formula for the believer. While the Word of God is the same for every single person, the specific plan of God is different for every person. By doing as everyone else is doing, you will actually miss out on what God has called you to do.
Biblical success is simply finding God’s plan and doing it! Be set free from the ways of the world and everyone’s opinion in Jesus’ Name! It’s time for you to step out and be who God has called you to be! Simply do what he tells you to do and you will be blessed and walk in His best!
