2 Corinthians 11:3 KJV
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
I believe everyone would agree that life seems to be busier than ever before! There are things vying for your attention on every side. Most people have families, friends, jobs, hobbies, church, and many other things that seem to need their attention. If you are not careful, it will seem like you pass yourself coming and going. Did you know that you can get too busy?
While the world paints the picture that a life of busyness is the right way to live, the Bible contradicts this. That is why most people that are continually busy are usually miserable.
In our passage above the Apostle Paul is addressing the Corinthian Christians. He has shared the message of Jesus with them and they have received it. The problem is that false teachers have come in and told them there is a better way. They were trying to sell the lie to them that more is better. They wanted them to believe that what they had, Jesus Christ, was not enough. This is a lie and one that satan is still selling to many today. Paul encouraged them in the simplicity that is in Christ. Simplicity in Christ is a heart and life that is wholly devoted to Christ without rival. Simplicity also means singleness or single minded. Satan will always try to rob you of your devotion to Christ through the introduction of many distractions in your life.
The key to Jesus’ public life and ministry was his private prayer life and walk with God. Don’t allow the busyness of life take you away from who really matters! Seek him FIRST and everything else will come together!
