3 Ingredients for Promotion

Daniel 3:30 KJV

Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

We hear very much in the body of Christ today about promotion. This is not a bad thing. We know that promotion comes from the Lord (Ps 75:6-7), and we know that God takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants (Ps 35:27). God is a God of increase, and He always desires that you are promoted, which means to advance or prosper.

We see in our text above that the king promoted the 3 Hebrew children. While we can use this to show that God wants to promote us, we must be careful in only using part of the story. This scripture is the end of the story, not the whole story. Let’s pull some ingredients out of the story of the fiery furnace resulting in their promotion.

3 Ingredients for Promotion

  1. True faith will be tried
  • With the exception of Daniel and the 3 Hebrew children, everyone else had compromised. They had bowed to the kings golden image. Now these 3 “faith in God only” men were facing the fire. What would they do?
  1. Two Choices-Faith or Compromise
  • They had a choice to make. When the music played, they could bow down to the image or be thrown into the fiery furnace. The choice was theirs. Their lives were at stake. What would they do? Would they bow or burn?
  1. Choosing Faith Brings Promotion
  • While they did not avoid the fiery furnace, God was with them. They chose not to compromise and into the furnace they went! But, while they should’ve been burnt to a crisp, not one hair on their head was singed. This is when promotion came!

You may be in the fire today because of your faith in God but keep the faith! You will not be moved, God will bring you through, and promotion belongs to you!
